It just goes to show a writer can make the most ridiculous hypothesis into a book - in fact, the more way out, the more chance that someone will buy and read it.

water to wine---trick revealed
by tula inan ethnobotanist in santa cruz, california, thinks jesus was munching magic mushrooms at the last supper.
clark heinrich says man has enjoyed the psychedelic effects of mushrooms since thousands of years before christ -- and figured the king of kings probably turned on as well.
in fact, he thinks jesus was high on a psychedelic 'shroom known as "fly agaric" which was hailed for its taste as well as its trips.

Posting a topic and saying ANY TAKERS?
by James Free inif the one creating a topic is too bored or lazy to write an opening salvo, why bother at all?
can everything that needs to be said go into the topic heading?
if so, what is left for anyone to say?.

Cronyism is partiality to long-standing friends, especially by appointing them to positions of authority, regardless of their qualifications. - Wikipedia
Perhaps the question should have been, was there no cronyism in your congregation, since it is so widespread.

JW's Banned In Tajikistan...
by brinjen intajikistan bans jehovah's witnessesposted tue oct 23, 2007 8:22am aest.
ex-soviet tajikistan outlawed the jehovah's witnesses religious organisation on monday, saying its missionary activities violated the laws of the predominantly muslim central asian state.. "door-to-door missionary activities, calls to refuse to serve in the armed forces and their intolerance of other religions contradict the law," tajik culture minister mirzoshohruh asrorov told a news conference.. jehovah's witnesses in tajikistan could not immediately be reached for comment.. according to official figures, more than 95 percent of the tajik population belong to the sunni branch of islam and another two percent are shiites.
the tajik government though is strictly secular.

There is a better way. Rather than banning the Witlesses which just forces them underground, they should educate the public. Having public service announcements about the tricks the Watchtower Society uses to defraud and scam would bring their recruitment rates down to zero. And they need to be denied charity status and tax exempt status so they can waste more money paying taxes.
I agree. Banning them has never stopped the JW's. But, exposing them is much better. Also, deny access to missionaries and ban the literature. It will at least stop it from being offered in public.

I wish governments would NOT ban the JW's. They always seem to thrive when under 'persecution'.

If he wants to be reinstated then he will have to either marry you, which would be frowned upon, or he will be expected to dump you.
If he marries you then it will be his goal to get you in the religion
This is how it is. To return, he must marry you or dump you and if he marries you he will do everything he can to get you to join too. And you can expect the pressure to be intense.
You must make up your own mind about what to do. You may love him very much. If not, no question about it, dump him. If you love him though, that is very hard to do. The guy is feeling guilty. He is also afraid of the future, because he does not realize yet that the WT is not the 'truth'. And he is probably missing his family and friends. His family may even be pressuring him to return, Put together, this may be a mountain that you cannot overcome. If at all possible, get him to read Crisis of Conscience. If he refuses, you have probably already lost him...

My JW Experience
by BBOARD inthe stress in the day to day scenario for a jehovah witnesses trying to live their life through the wtbts is the same that cause them to work harder until they either work even harder, fade away, or suffer a mental breakdown.
fear of reproof or divine punishment from jehovah, not love for jesus, grips their day to day activities as they feel they must fulfill their duties of preaching and attending meeting.
many who came into the organization in the 90s; came in due to the friendliness of the people and not the reality of the cult.

Great post. So many JW's suffer from depression. In the UK virtually every congregation has people claiming to have Chronic Fatigue Syndrome or M.E. - Statisically it is impossible, the number of sufferers in relation to the total population is much smaller than the number of JW sufferers in relation to the number of Witnesses. But so many JW's do burn out, and have similar symptoms. Some give their depression a name just to reduce the pressure from the ever-demanding 'brothers and sisters'.
After a short time, the attitude in the congregation changes from mild concern to general disbelief. The elders decide in private a person is shirking rather that ill very quickly and the sympathy dries up.
Love, the thing that Jesus said would identify his genuine disciples, is missing in JW land. Many JW's think that the lack of understanding, lack of love, must be local to their congregation or circuit, especially when the publications paint such a rosy picture of caring elders and loving congregations. The reality is, however, that such congregations are very rare. Congregations without love are the norm. And depression and similar mental illnesses are all too common.

by Mrs Smith inmy son was about 5 years old when we stopped going to the meetings.

he remembered the puzzles i bought him to play with during the meetings.. he remembered that i packed a sandwich and some juice for him to eat in case he got hungry.. when he got board i use to take him outside for a walk around the kh garden.

We were raised in the "old" WT mindset. Children were to sit quietly, no toys, no books (besides the WT) no food, no nothing. We were raised that way, we raised our kids that way. We were expected to.
I feel so sorry now that I was so hard on my kids. It is inhuman to expect children to sit still for 2 hours or for 8 to 10 at the assemblies we went to.
I was like this too. They had to sit quietly like zombies. Giving them toys and food was a big no-no. Now I realize that is is a form of cruelty, especially when even the adults are bored out of their head after 30 minutes, which is probably one of the reasons the Public Talk is to be reduced in time.
